The final liberation of the individual
soul has been depicted symbolically in many different ways by cultures
far afield from one another. I have admired the vital and sometimes harsh
ideas of the 'Valhalla' of the Vikings, to the unexpected depictions of
the tribal peoples of South America, Africa and Madagascar.
